Q.
When should I replace my water heater?
A.
Electric water heaters don’t last as long as Gas water
heaters. The life of your water heaters depends on several
factors including; quality of water, manufacturer, and type
of insulation.
If your water heater is leaking, you
should replace it. If your water heater has a wire that shorts
or burn out, it is time to replace. If, in a gas model, the
valve behaves unpredictably, or water leaks Carbon Monoxide,
it is also time to replace the water heater.
Q. How do
I make my water heater last longer?
A. Follow the manufacturer’s
recommendation on draining and flushing water heater every
6 months. Also follow the manufacturer’s recommendation
regarding the installation procedure. Be sure to buy quality
products as they will last much longer.
Q. When is
it O.K. to repair my water heater?
A. You should only repair your water heater if it makes
financial sense to do so. Age and condition of the water heater
are the most important factors in determining the cost of
repair.
Q. My
old Gas water heater gave me more hot water than my new Electric
water heater. Why is this?
A. Gas water heaters are able
to burn hotter than Electric heaters. In turn, the water heats
up much more quickly.
